Our Lady Health of the Sick

[Latin Text]

Introit:

I am the salvation of the people.  In whatever tribulation they cry unto me, I will hear them.  [Ps xxxiii 2]  I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall be ever in my mouth.  Glory be.  I am the salvation.

Collect:

Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord God, to us Thy servants, that we may evermore enjoy health of mind and body, and by the glorious intercession of blessed Mary ever Virgin be delivered from present sorrow and obtain everlasting happiness.

Epistle: Proverbs vii: 22-35

A reading from the Book of Wisdom:
The Lord possessed me in the beginning of His ways, before He made anything from the beginning. I was set up from eternity, and of old before the earth was made. The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived, neither had the fountains of water s as yet sprung out. The mountains with their huge bulk had not as yet been established, before the hills I was brought forth. He had not as yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world. When He prepared the heavens I was present, when with a certain law and compass He enclosed the depths; when He established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters; when He compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits; when He balanced the foundations of the earth, I was with Him forming all things. And I was delighted every day, playing before Him at all times; playing in the world, and my delights were to be with the children of men. Now, therefore, children, hear me: blessed are they who keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man who hears me, and who watches daily at my gates, and waits at the posts of my doors. He who shall find me shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord.

Graduale Ps. cii: 1 et 3-4

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and everything that is in me bless His holy name.  Who heals your infirmities; Who redeems you and keeps your life from destruction. [Ps. cxvii: 14] My strength and my praise is the Lord, who makes me in health.
Allelúja, allelúja. [Ps. lix: 13] Give us, O Lord, help from tribulation: for vain is salvation by men. Allelúja.

Gospel: John ii: 1-11

The continuation of the Holy Gospel according to John.

At that time there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. And Jesus also was invited with His disciples to the marriage.  And the wine failing, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”  And Jesus said to her, “Woman, what is that to Me and to thee?  My hour has not yet come.”  His mother said to the waiters, “Whatsoever he shall say to you, do ye.”  Now there were set there six water-pots of stone; according to the Jewish manner of purification, each containing two or three measures.  Jesus said to them, “Fill the water-pots with water.”  And they filled them up to the brim.  And Jesus said to them, “Draw out now, and carry it to the chief steward of the feast.”  And they carried it.  And when the chief steward had tasted the water made wine, and knew not whence it was, but the waiters who had drawn the water  knew:  the chief steward called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Every man at first sets forth good wine, and when men have drunk well, then that which is worse -- but thou hast kept the good wine until now.”  This beginning of miracles Jesus did in Cana of Galilee; and manifested His glory, and His disciples believed in him.

Offertorium: Jerem. xviii: 20

Remember, Vírgin Mother, when standing before the continence of God, to speak well of us, and thus avert His indignation from us.

Secreta:

Through the saving intercession of the most blessed Mother of Thy Son, confirm us, O God, in Thy grace, and preserve us from all evil.  Through the same Jesus Christ.

Preface of the Blessed Virgin Mary “In the festivity”

Communio: Isai: xlvi: 13

I will give health in Sion, and my glory in Israel.

 Postcommunio:

O Lord Jesus Christ, may the divine libation of Thy body and blood, which we have devoutly received in honor of Thy Mother provide life for us in time, and win for us the gift of eternity.  Thou livest and reignest.
