December 12th:
Our Lady of Guadalupe

[Latin Text]

Introit:  Sedulius et Ps. xliv: 2

Hail, holy Mother! giving birth to thy Child, thou didst bring forth the King, who ruleth the heavens and the earth for ever and ever.  [Ps.]  My heart hath uttered a good word.  I speak my works to the King.  Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall  be, world without end.  Amen.   Hail....

O God, who has placed us under the special patronage of the blessed Virgin Mary, and through her hast favored us with endless blessings:  may we who joyfully honor her this day on earth, enjoy her company forever in heaven. Through our Lord.

Commemoration of the Feria

Epistle:  Ecclesiastes: xxiv

A reading from the wisdom books:

As the vine I have brought forth a pleasant odor, and my flowers are the fruit of honor and riches.  I am the mother of fair love, and of fear, and of holy hope.  In me is all the grace of the way and of the truth, in me is all hope of life and virtue.  Come over to me, all you who desire me, and be filled with my fruits.  For my spirit is sweet above honey, and my inheritance above honey and the honeycomb.  My memory is unto everlasting generations.  They who eat me shall yet hunger; and they who drink me shall yet thirst.  He who harkens to me shall not be confounded; and they who work by me shall not sin.  They who explain me shall have life everlasting.

Gradual:  Canticles vi: 9

Who is she who comes forth as the morning dawn, fair as the moon, bright as the sun?  [Eccli. l: 8]  As a rainbow that gives light in the bright clouds, and as the budding roses in the springtime.

Alleluia, alleluia.  [Cant. ii:12]  The flowers have appeared in our land, the time of pruning has come.  Alleluia!

Gospel:  Luke i: 39-47

Continuation of the holy Gospel according to Luke.

At that time, Mary, rising up, went into the hill country, with haste, into a city of Juda  And she entered into the house of Zachary, and saluted Elizabeth.  And it came to pass that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb.  And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost: and she cried  out with a loud voice, and said, “Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.  And whence is this to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?  For behold, as soon as the voice of thy salvation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.  And blessed art thou that hast believed, because these things shall be accomplished that were spoken to thee by the Lord.”  And Mary said, “My soul doth magnify the Lord; and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Savior.”

I have chosen and sanctified this place, that my name may be here, and my eyes and my heart may dwell here forever.

Through Thy clemency, O Lord, and by the intercession of blessed Mary ever Virgin, may this offering avail unto our prosperity and peace, now and for evermore.

Commemoration of the Feria

Preface of the Blessed Virgin Mary, “in the festivity.”

He has not done this for any other nation, and His ordinances he has not made known to them.

Grant, we beseech Thee, O Lord, that having received these helps unto salvation we may everywhere be protected by the patronage of blessed Mary ever Virgin, in veneration of whom we have offered this sacrifice to Thy majesty.
