US Government increases
Title X funding to a record $288.3 million in Fiscal Year 2005
Title X funding is US
taxpayer money spent on “reproductive health services” by the Department of
Health and Human Services’ Office of Population Affairs’ Office of Family
Planning.[i]
(Go find that one in the US Constitution, Virginia!) The 2005
budget runs $30 million more than the highest levels of spending by the Clinton
administration in 2001.
In
addition to contraceptive services and related counseling, Title X supported
clinics also provide a number of preventive health services such as: patient
education and counseling; breast and pelvic examinations; cervical cancer, STD
and HIV screenings; and pregnancy diagnosis and counseling.12
The Title X program includes funding for contraceptive birth
control; birth control that causes chemical abortions; and birth control for
unmarried adolescents, even if their parents object to the federal government
giving their children hormonal drugs and devices with which to fornicate.
The Title X program is also one of the principal federal government funding
mechanisms for Planned Parenthood Federation of America (founded by Margaret
Sanger), the nation's largest chain of child-murder-by-abortion centers.
[ii]
Some $50-$60 million will
be paid to Planned Parenthood Federation of America for population control
services. According to law the funds “shall not be expended for
abortions,” but Title X money is “fungible," allowing abortion providers
to spend their other monies exclusively on aborting unborn babies.
