Qui prídie quam paterétur, He takes up the
Host accépit panem in sanctas ac venerabiles
manus suas, raises his eyes to heaven et elevatis óculis in cælum ad te Deum Patrem suum
omnipoténtem bows his head tibi gratias agens,
signs over the Host bene+dixit, fregit, dedítque
discípulis suis, dicens: Accípite, et manduc te ex hoc omnes.

Who, the day before He suffered, He takes up the
Host took bread into His holy and
venerable hands, He raises his eyes to heaven and having raised His eyes to heaven, unto Thee, O God,
His Father almighty, bows his head giving thanks to Thee,
signs over the Host blessed, +
broke it, and
gave it to His disciples, saying: Take ye all and eat of this.

He takes the host between the thumbs
and index fingers of both hands, says the words of consecration quietly,
distinctly and attentively over the host, or over them all if there is more than
one to be consecrated.
|
|
Hoc est enim Corpus meum.
|
|
For this is my Body.
|
|
He genuflects in adoration, raises the sacred Host for all to see,
and genuflects again in adoration. He does not disjoin his fingers from
this time, until the ablutions. Then he takes the chalice, saying:
|
|
Símili modo postquam coenatum est, He takes the
chalice with both hands, accípiens et hunc præclarum
Calicem in sanctas ac venerabiles manus suas: item bows
his head tibi gratias
agens, takes the chalice with his left hand,
signing over it with his right bene+dixit, dedítque discípulis suis, dicens: Accípite,
et bíbite ex eo omnes.

In like manner, when the supper was done, He
takes the chalice with both hands, taking also this goodly
chalice into His holy and venerable hands, again bows
his head giving thanks to Thee, takes the
chalice with his left hand, signing over it with his right He blessed it, + and gave it to His disciples, saying: Take ye all, and
drink of this.

He says the words of consecration over the chalice, attentively,
continuously, and quietly and holding it slightly elevated.
|
|
Hic est enim Calix Sánguinis mei, novi
et ætérni testaménti: mystérium fídei:
qui pro vobis et pro multis effundétur in remissiónem
peccatórum.
|
|
For this is the Chalice of my Blood, of
the new and eternal covenant: the mystery of faith: which shall be
shed for you and for many unto the forgiveness of sins.
|
|
Having said the words, he places the chalice on the corporal and
says quietly:
|
|
Hæc quotiescúmque fecéritis, in mei memóriam faciétis.
|
|
As often as you shall do these things, in memory of Me shall you do
them.
|
|
He genuflects in adoration, rises, elevates the chalice for the people to
see, returns it to the corporal, covers it, and genuflects again in
adoration. Then he extends his hands to say the following prayers.
