Colleran, Thomas J.
"Cowboy", 65, passed away too suddenly on June 11, 2006. Beloved
husband of Kathleen (Scanlon); loving father of Kathleen O'Shea, Thomas
(Lori) Colleran, Martin (Cecelia) Colleran, Margaret (Michael) Jiminez;
adored "Papa" of Brian, Billy, Nicky, Kelly, Kerri, Martin,
Erin, Peter and Aidan. Tom, a truly legendary N.Y.P.D. detective, will be
remembered as one of New York's finest street cops, serving in the 25th
Pct. For 14 years, and the 84 Pct. Detective Squad until retirement. An
avid John Wayne fan, he took great pride in his Irish heritage, his public
service as a police officer, and his family and friends. Upon retirement,
Tom relocated to Highland Beach, FL with his wife Kathy, where he
continued his avocation as a fisherman. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air
Force, and a member of the Retired Detectives of New York, the Fraternal
Order of Police, the International Police Association, the D.E.A. of the
NYPD, the NYPD Emerald Society, the Broward County 10-13 Club, the Pompano
Elks Lodge #1898. and HAGS Dixieland Jazz Society. A devout communicant of
Our Lady of the Rosary Old Roman Catholic Church, Tom served as an usher
at Sunday Mass. Renowned for his NYPD "cop stories", Tom had a
heart of gold to all! "Who loves ya baby?" Friends may call from
2-4 & 6-8 pm on Wednesday, June 14 at Babione Funeral Home (East
Chapel). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on
Thursday, June 15 at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at the Boca
Raton Mausoleum. In Lieu of flowers, Tom would appreciate donations to
either the Our Lady of the Rosary Old Roman Catholic Church Building Fund,
the John Wayne Cancer Fund, or your local veteran's organization. Babione
